Kalingalinga is
a place where people don't expect anything good to come out
of if it. The Lord has proved the world wrong. The Zambian
Vocal Group has risen above their circumstances and has
become a blessing to
the Nation of Zambia. Representing the Zambian children
around the world, they have become true ambassadors of their
country. Their positive and spirit filled message has filled
the hearts of young people and adults alike. Their unique
sounds and vocal harmonies have earned them recognition
worldwide.
In
1985, they formed a boys choir which later became
to be known as the Zambian Acapella. Discovered by a
visiting missionary in 1989, they continued to practice 6
days a week and May of 1993, came to the United States to
perform at a student convention in Arizona. Little did they
know that this is the
beginning of a long time ministry. The Zambian Vocal Group
was formed in 1997 after some members of the Zambian
Acapella decided to pursue different goals in life. Most
members in the group have been singing together for nearly
23 years. They have sang for over a million students around
the U.S.
encouraging students to take advantage of education. Many boys and girls in Africa do not have the
opportunity to go to school.
Music
These seven
young men have brought a new definition to the word "A'
cappella." Whether performing traditional hymns or original
verse and song, the Zambian Vocal Group touches everyone
from the music connoisseur to the child whose ears are
tickled with the sweet sounds of their vocal nuances. Their
sound is a unique combination of traditional African
rhythms, vocal percussion, and complex vocal harmonies,
all of which are focused on a worshipful foundation that
uplifts and proclaims the name of Jesus Christ. From the
moment they begin to sing, one can't help but believe that
the notes themselves are the product of God-honoring
spirit-filled lives.
